Privacy
What we collect, why, and how you stay in control.
01In short
You can read everything on 12horoscope without an account. An account is optional. We don't sell personal data and we don't use advertising trackers.
02What we store
Your chosen sign and theme are saved in your own browser (local storage) so we can greet you with your reading. If you sign in, a small copy of your account summary is kept in the browser tab's session storage so pages load without a flicker. You can clear all of this at any time in your browser settings.
For personal tarot readings we store the cards, your question and the generated reading so the result can be shared, together with a one-way hash of your IP address used only to enforce daily limits.
03Accounts and sign-in
If you create an account, we store your email address, the name you give us (if any), your language and your time zone.
Sign-in is passwordless: we email you a one-time code, or you use Google. With Google, we receive your name, email address and a stable account ID from Google — never your password.
To keep you signed in we set one essential, secure cookie. We store only a one-way hash of its value, together with your browser type and a shortened IP address, so you can see and end your sessions in Settings.
04Birth data and consent
Birth details are saved only when you choose to save them and tick the consent box. We record when you agreed and the exact wording you saw.
We use birth data only to calculate charts and personal readings. Personal readings are assembled by our software from your chart and a library of pre-written texts — your details are never sent to an AI service.
If you add other people, please do so only with their permission. Birth details entered in the birth chart tool without saving are used for that calculation only and are not stored. Place search is relayed through our server to OpenStreetMap-based geocoding services (Nominatim, Photon); we keep searches only in a short-lived cache.
05Emails and your preferences
If you subscribe, we store your email address, language, chosen signs, frequency, delivery time and time zone, plus a record of your consent, until you unsubscribe. We only start sending after you confirm your address.
Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link and a link to your preferences, where you can change signs and frequency, pause for 30 days or stop entirely. Sign-in codes and confirmations are sent only when you ask for them.
06Export and deletion
From Settings you can download all your data as a JSON file at any time.
Deleting your account permanently removes your account, the people you saved and your readings, and stops all emails. We keep only a one-way hash of your email address on a suppression list, so we never email you again by mistake.
07Visit statistics
12horoscope measures traffic with its own first-party tool — no cookies, no third-party services, and no IP addresses or device identifiers are stored. Each page view records only the page, the referring website (domain only), country, device and browser type, and language.
To count daily visitors we use a one-way hash that is regenerated every day, so you can't be followed across days or across websites. Because no personal data is kept, no consent banner is needed, and a Do Not Track signal doesn't change anything. Raw records are deleted after 90 days; only aggregated totals are kept.
08Server logs
Like any website, our servers keep short-lived technical logs (such as IP address and requested page) for security and reliability.
09Browser extension
Our browser extension for Chrome and Edge stores your chosen sign, language, reminder settings and the latest readings locally in your browser (extension storage). This data never leaves your computer except as the language, sign and date included in requests for public content.
The extension only contacts 12horoscope.com. It asks for three permissions: storage (settings and offline copies), alarms (the morning reminder and a check for new articles every few hours) and notifications (the reminder itself). It does not read the pages you visit, your browsing history or your tabs.
If you connect the extension to your account, it receives a read-only key that can only fetch your personal daily reading and your Big Three. Only a hash of the key is stored on our servers. It appears in your account settings as a signed-in device and you can revoke it at any time; disconnecting in the extension revokes it too.
Unless you switch it off in the extension settings, the extension sends an anonymous count each time it is opened or a reminder is clicked (with the language, sign and version only, and no identifier). Removing the extension deletes everything it stored.
