# How we write our horoscopes

> Planet positions, the zodiac and houses we use, how scores and lucky numbers are computed, and how AI and editors work together.

## Planet positions

Positions are computed with astronomy-engine, an open-source astronomy library accurate to well under an arcminute for the planets. We use geocentric ecliptic longitudes of date — where each body appears from Earth — sampled at 12:00 UTC for daily readings.

Ingresses, retrograde stations, lunations, eclipses and exact aspects are found by searching the ephemeris and are timed to the minute.

## Tropical zodiac

We use the tropical zodiac, the standard in Western astrology: 0° Aries is the March equinox point. Sign dates on this site follow that system.

## Whole-sign houses from your Sun sign

A daily horoscope can't know your birth time, so we use whole-sign houses counted from your Sun sign: your own sign is your 1st house, the next sign is your 2nd, and so on. When the Moon is in the sign two after yours, it's in your 3rd house — the area of communication and short trips.

Your birth chart (from our birth chart tool) is more precise: with a birth time and place we calculate your actual rising sign.

## Scores, lucky numbers and matches

Daily scores (1–5) are calculated, not written: planets in the houses linked to each area (for example the 5th and 7th for love) add or subtract weight depending on the planet, plus the tone of current aspects to your ruling planet. A small seeded variation keeps neighbouring signs from tying.

Lucky numbers, colour and time are generated deterministically from the date and sign, with the colour drawn from the Moon's element. They're a playful prompt, not a promise. Compatibility scores (1–10) come from the angle between two signs, their elements and modalities.

## AI-assisted, human-edited

For each sign and day, our software builds a brief: the Moon's sign and house, key aspects, ingresses and retrogrades. An AI model drafts the reading from that brief, following a style guide written natively for each language.

Automated checks reject drafts that are too short or long, repeat recent openings, read too similar to other signs, or stray into medical, legal or investment directives. Editors review, edit and can lock any text.

## How this content is made

Planet positions are computed with astronomy-engine (geocentric, tropical zodiac, whole-sign houses counted from the Sun sign). Scores, lucky items and matches are calculated, not written. Readings are drafted by AI from that computed sky brief, checked automatically and edited by people. Astrology here is for reflection and entertainment, not medical, legal or financial advice.
