Discover how this shift toward optimism and adventure affects your sign this holiday season. *Author: [Luna Hale](https://12horoscope.com/en/authors/luna-hale) (pen name) · Published: 2026-11-06 · Updated: 2026-11-06* **Topics:** astrology dates, Sagittarius season, Sun transit You might notice a sudden urge to open the windows or book a flight to somewhere you have never been. This restless, glass-half-full feeling arrives every year around November 22, when the Sun moves from the deep, dark waters of Scorpio into the bright, expansive fire of Sagittarius. This transition marks one of the most visible shifts in the calendar, taking us from a season of secrets and intense emotional work into a month of honesty, big ideas, and social connection. In astrology, the Sun represents your core focus and where you are drawing your vitality. When it occupies Sagittarius, we all become a little more interested in the big picture. Instead of worrying about the tiny details or the hidden motives that occupied us during Scorpio season, we start looking at the horizon. It is the time of the archer, aiming for a target that is miles away. While Scorpio asks "how do I survive?", Sagittarius asks "what else is out there?" ## Understanding the shift in astrology dates When we talk about astrology dates, we are referring to the specific moment a planet moves from one 30-degree slice of the sky to the next. On November 22, 2026, the Sun makes this move at 07:23 UTC. This is not just a change on a chart; it is a change in the collective weather. For the past month, the Sun has been traveling through Scorpio, a sign that favors privacy, deep research, and investigating what lies beneath the surface. It can feel a bit heavy, like you are walking through a thick forest at night. Sagittarius is a fire sign, and fire needs room to breathe. This sign is ruled by Jupiter, the planet of growth and luck. When the Sun enters this territory, the heavy forest clears into a wide-open plain. You might find yourself more willing to speak your mind, even if the truth is a little blunt. This is also the [sign of Sagittarius](https://12horoscope.com/en/sagittarius) being the natural philosopher of the zodiac, which is why the holiday season often kicks off with big debates around the dinner table. We are all searching for meaning and connection on a grander scale. ## Myths versus the reality of Sagittarius season A common myth about this time of year is that it is purely a month-long party where everyone forgets their responsibilities. While it is true that Sagittarius energy is optimistic, the reality is more focused on the search for truth. Sagittarius is about wisdom, not just fun. It is the difference between going to a party to hide from your problems and going to a party to meet people who challenge your perspective. Another misconception is that the optimism of this season is blind. In truth, Sagittarius is a mutable sign, meaning it is adaptable. It sees the challenges but chooses to believe there is a workaround. This year, the shift feels particularly earned. Leading up to the 22nd, we face some friction. On November 18 and 19, the Sun squares (creates a 90-degree angle of tension with) Jupiter and Mars. You might feel a bit of a "push-pull" between your desire to expand and the practical energy required to get things done. By the time the Sun enters Sagittarius on the 22nd, that tension releases into a clearer sense of purpose. ## What this transit means for your sign Because the Sun moves through a different house (an area of life) for every sign, the Sagittarian light hits each of us differently. To see how these houses interact with your personal planets, you can check your [free birth chart](https://12horoscope.com/en/birth-chart) for more detail. On November 24, we experience a Full Moon in [Gemini](https://12horoscope.com/en/gemini), which acts like a spotlight on our conversations and information. This is a day to be careful with your words, as Gemini energy can be a bit scattered, even if it is exciting. On the same day, the Sun trines (makes a supportive 120-degree angle with) Neptune, which softens the edges of our reality and makes it a great time for art or meditation. By November 25, the energy gets more grounded as Mars enters [Virgo](https://12horoscope.com/en/virgo). While the Sun in Sagittarius wants to dream big, Mars in Virgo wants to make a list and check it twice. This balance is actually helpful for the holiday season; it allows you to have the big Sagittarian vision for your celebrations while having the Virgo discipline to actually buy the groceries and set the table. ### Frequently asked questions ### Why does the date the Sun changes signs vary? While we often say the Sun enters Sagittarius on November 22, it can sometimes happen late on the 21st or early on the 22nd depending on the year and your time zone. This is because the Earth's orbit around the Sun isn't exactly 365 days, which is why we have leap years to keep our [astrology dates](https://12horoscope.com/en/articles) and calendars aligned. ### Is Sagittarius season a good time for relationships? It can be, but it depends on what you want. Sagittarius values freedom and honesty. If you are looking for a deep, soul-searching commitment, you might prefer Scorpio season. But if you want to explore new things with a partner or meet someone through a shared hobby, Sagittarius season is excellent for [compatibility](https://12horoscope.com/en/compatibility) and social growth. ### What if I was born on the 'cusp' of Scorpio and Sagittarius? In astrology, you are one sign or the other based on the exact minute you were born. If your birthday is November 21 or 22, you might feel like a mix of both, but your Sun can only be in one sign. Check your birth chart to see which one it is, as the transition is a specific moment in time, not a gradual blend. ## From the journal - [5 ways to refresh your home as Venus goes direct in your 4th house](https://12horoscope.com/en/articles/cancer-venus-direct-4th-house-home-tips) · [Markdown](https://12horoscope.com/en/articles/cancer-venus-direct-4th-house-home-tips.md) - [Why Gemini communication clears up after Mercury stations direct in the 6th house](https://12horoscope.com/en/articles/gemini-mercury-direct-6th-house-work-clarity) · [Markdown](https://12horoscope.com/en/articles/gemini-mercury-direct-6th-house-work-clarity.md) - [Why the full Moon in november 2026 is the ultimate time for honest conversations](https://12horoscope.com/en/articles/full-moon-november-2026-gemini-communication) · [Markdown](https://12horoscope.com/en/articles/full-moon-november-2026-gemini-communication.md) --- ## How this content is made Planet positions are computed with astronomy-engine (geocentric, tropical zodiac, whole-sign houses counted from the Sun sign).
